Hey everyone. I've posted blogs on the Bulls and Cubs and figured I'd make one for the Bears. I'll keep this updated everyday with news from around the Internet involving the Bears as well as game previews and recaps.
Today on the web, the Chicago Tribune's David Haugh talks about how Jay Cutler's mind matters most on the field as opposed to fielding questions from the media. This comes after Mike Martz and Seahawks head coach Jim Mora Jr. criticized Cutler for not caring enough during his postgame interview after the game on Sunday Night. Lovie Smith responded to Martz and Mora Jr. here.
The Tribune's Rick Morrissey continues to be bipolar in regards to Jay Cutler. Morrissey was against the Bears trading for Cutler from the get-go because he thought his negative attitude would have a negative affect on this Bears team. Morrissey continued to bash Cutler through the first week of the preseason when Cutler had a so-so performence against the Buffalo Bills. After Cutler's two solid preseason games against the Giants and Broncos, Morrissey went out of his way to praise Jay. Now Morrissey is back on the dump Cutler bandwagon. Personally, I hope the Tribune dumps you Morrissey. Hopefully in the near future.
In the Chicago Tribune's Bears blog "Huddle Up", Vaugh McClure has an article on Ben Roethlisberger and how he still likes the Bears defense despite Brian Urlacher's season ending injury.
Vaugh also has an article explaining that Desmond Clark and Pisa Tinoisamoa's status for Sunday's game are up in the air. If Pisa doesn't play, the Bears will be playing down 2 linebackers with the loss of Brian Urlacher.
I do have an opinion on one of the articles in the Tribune today. Fred Mitchell writes that the Payton family wants the Bears to put a Walter Payton statue outside of Soldier Field but the Chicago Park District doesn't want it located at Soldier Field because they feel that Soldier Field should be a memorial for war veterans. I don't disagree with their response about Soldier Field being a memorial for war veterans but if that's the case, why did they build a spaceship on the stadium? Walter Payton is by far the best player to put on a Bears uniform and deserves a statue in his honor whether it's put outside Soldier Field or the Bears create a mini "Bears Hall of Fame" and house things from past Bear greats like Dick Butkus, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, etc.
In other Bears news, a cracked rib will put Desmond Clark on the sideline for Sunday's game against the Steelers. And the Chicago Park District is replacing the sod at Soldier Field after this weekend's U2 concerts. The grass at Soldier Field has been getting criticism from both visiting players and Bears players for years now.
Come back tomorrow for more articles and opinions.
